Perfect Pint

Four Paws, Two Pints, One Very Important Question…

Are the dogs welcome?

A good pub can make a camping trip. A great pub welcomes the dogs too.

This is where we keep track of the pubs, inns and watering holes we’ve discovered on our travels — usually after a walk that was definitely chosen because there happened to be a pub at the end of it.

We’re not looking for somewhere that simply tolerates dogs tucked quietly under a table. We love the places where muddy paws are genuinely welcome, water bowls appear without asking and nobody bats an eyelid when Hendricks gets overexcited because someone has said the word PUB.

And while the boys are judging the welcome, we’ll happily take responsibility for checking the cider, beer, food, atmosphere and beer garden.

Puppy Friendly Pubs We’ve Found Along the Way

These aren’t recommendations gathered from the internet. We’ve actually been there — dogs, leads, muddy paws and all.

Some were planned stops. Others were stumbled across completely by accident. And occasionally the pub may have influenced the choice of campsite more than we’re prepared to admit.

Every review is simply our experience on the day: what we loved, what the dogs thought and whether we’d happily wander back through the door again.

No scores. No stars. Just our verdict.

Hendricks’ pub rule:

If there’s water, treats and someone willing to make a fuss of him, it’s already off to a very strong start.

See you around the campfire
